History of Blankfort


  • April 1995 – Bruno Baillargeon and Bob Williamson meet at a UK trade show, coincident with withdrawal of Brazilian doorblank from sale in UK. Concept of doorblank design discussed and market research conducted.
     
  • September 1995 – first 30 minute fire test successfully conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on single acting single door with chipboard faces. First orders received and product supplied to UK. Blankfort brand name adopted.
    Williamson Associates appointed as UK Agents and technical support.
     
  • January 1996 – successful 30 minute fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 30 chipboard faced double acting double doors with overpanel
     
  • January 1996 – successful 30 minute fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on 2700mm high Blankfort 30 chipboard faced single door with concealed intumescent strip
     
  • February 1996 – successful 60 minute fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 60 chipboard faced single doors
     
  • August 1996 – successful 30 minute fire tested conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 30 chipboard faced single acting double doors with overpanels with all meeting edges rebated
     
  • September 1996 – successful 60 minute fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 60 chipboard faced double acting double doors
     
  • December 1996 – successful 30 minute fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987  on Blankfort Security  and Security E plywood faced single acting single doors
     
  • November 1997 – successful 30 minute fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 30 chipboard faced single acting single door in steel frame
     
  • March 1998 – successful 30 minute fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 30 mdf faced single acting single doors
     
  • November 1998 - Baillargeon Doors joins BM Trada Q mark fire door scheme with Blankfort 30, 60, Security and Security E products all included in the certification scope
     
  • January 2000 – successful 60 minute fire test conducted to  BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 60 with mdf faced single acting single door
     
  • March 2000 – successful 30 minute fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 30 chipboard faced single acting single door leaf size 2440 x 1220
     
  • July 2000 - successful 60 minute fire tested conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 60+ mdf faced single acting single doors
     
  • June 2001 – successful 60 minute fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 60+ mdf faced faced single acting double doors with overpanels with all meeting edges rebated
     
  • November 2003 – successful fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort Security E Birch plywood faced one single door flush and one single door glazed
     
  • November 2004 – FSC Chain of Custody certification awarded to Baillargeon Doors and Blankfort products by Smartwood programme of Rainforest Alliance
     
  • 2004-2005 –extensive life cycle and durability testing conducted on Blankfort 30 and 60 single and double doors in hardwood, softwood and mdf frames. Testing conducted to most demanding elements of DD171 and BSEN 1191, 1192, 947, 948, 949 and 950 along with parts of PAS 23 achieving Severe duty grading.
     
  • October 2007 – acoustic testing conducted to BSENISO 140-3 1995 on Blankfort range with and without glazing achieving 33dB – 38dB values with variety of seals
     
  • June 2008 – successful fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 60+ mdf faced double doors with exceptional leaf sizes
     
  • May 2009 – successful fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on  Blankfort 30+ mdf faced single acting double doors with overpanels with all meeting edges rebated
     
  • March 2010 – further acoustic testing conducted to BSENISO 140-3 1995  on single and double doors across Blankfort range extending seal options and acoustic values with 35dB for Blankfort 30+ flush and 36dB for Blankfort 60+ flush
     
  • February 2011 – successful fire test conducted to BS 476 part 22 1987 on Blankfort 30  chipboard faced double doors and Blankfort 60+ mdf faced double doors both with mdf frames
     
  • Spring 2012 – Baillargeon Doors sold and Blankfort Inc formed by rene and Bruno Baillargeon with all test evidence,Q mark certification and FSC certification transferred to Blankfort Inc.
     
  • January to December 2013 – successful fire tests conducted to BSEN 1634 Part 1 2008 for Blankfort 30, 30+ and Blankfort 60and 60+ on single and double doors
     
  • 2014 – with a market leading series of successful fire, acoustic and mechanical tests already conducted, product testing and development continues with several exciting new products on the horizon.

 

An important and significant feature throughout has been ongoing collaboration with suppliers and customers to address individual niche requirements as well as satisfy broader market needs.

Blankfort products have consistently achieved success in testing laboratories in all of the performance requirements required of door leaves and equally importantly when installed in real world applications have continued to perform.
